Name: Carol Peletier
Canon: The Walking Dead (TV)
Age: late 40s to early 50s
Appearance: as of S10; I may have her go back to a short-hair style in game because...that's all I have icons for...
Canon Point: post-S10
Background: Carol at TWD Wiki

Personality:
Rick: You washed my clothes?
Carol: Well, best we could. Scrubbing on a washboard ain't half as good as my old Maytag back home.
- Season 1, Episode 3, "Tell It to the Frogs"
Carol: The bitch has to die.
- Season 10, Episode 3, "Ghosts"

As one of two season one characters still remaining, Carol has undergone perhaps the most radical character development of anyone on the show. Starting out as a meek and beaten-down victim of domestic abuse, she learned the hard way that the only way to survive in the new, post-apocalyptic world was to fight for it - a lesson she learned a little too well.

Like most people still alive ten years after the end of the world, Carol is tough and self-sufficient, able to make hard decisions and fend for herself without flinching. However, she tends to take it further than most. After suffering devastating personal losses over and over, she's resolved to do everything she can to prevent the same from happening again, and to enact vengeance on those who would hurt or threaten those she loves. She has little tolerance for the kind of weakness she herself once showed, going so far as to secretly train children in weapon usage to ensure they're able to defend themselves. When she's confronted with the loss of a fourth child, she hits her lowest point, all but abandoning any attempt at self-preservation, as well as putting others of her group at risk and even recruiting the help of a former and potentially still deadly nemesis in a singleminded quest for vengeance. At the end of season 10, she's almost an outsider in her own community, at odds with her best friend, and just starting the long road back to facing what she's done and possibly finding some sort of peace and redemption.

But in many ways, the apocalypse brought out the best in Carol. Miserable and subservient in her first marriage, she has since flourished, learning to define herself as more than a housewife and mother and developing her own sense of self and independence. She has a wicked sense of humor and a sharp wit, and is shown to be hardworking, resourceful and pragmatic. Despite the walls she's learned to put up to protect herself, she is capable of letting others in, and cares deeply for her family and friends.

Weaknesses/Temptations: Carol's lost a lot in her life, including losing her family three times (her first husband and daughter, the two girls she later adopted, and finally the adopted son she raised for six years all died, the last incident leading to her leaving her second husband). She's gone through periods of extremely unforgiving violence and toughness as well as periods of self-isolation when she couldn't bear causing any more death. Caring for people and being able to fight and kill for them are inextricably linked in her mind, and she's been shown again and again that weakness equals death, and that when she isn't able or willing to fight for her family, when she lets herself stop and live in peace, she will inevitably lose them.

Following the events of season 10, she may be more cautious about opening herself up to outsiders for a while, though this isolation itself may inadvertently lead her to a darker place. Anyone she does care about being hurt or killed will immediately trigger an outburst of violence as she fights to protect or avenge them the only way she knows how.

She has a (one-episode) history of abusing prescription caffeine pills, staying awake for days on end in a bender that resulted in hallucinations and her almost getting herself killed. In general, she has a tendency to go too far, to push limits in ways that can put herself and/or others at risk, all in the name of negating threats or eliminating weakness.

She lies easily and remorselessly, putting on a front of harmlessness if she thinks it will give her an advantage later on. Carol and her daughter were victims of domestic abuse in her first marriage, and as a result she has zero tolerance of abusers now, and will kill them if necessary.

Sins:

Child negligence
Murder, direct (as a conservative estimate, she has directly killed between 45-50 people, not including walkers)
Murder, indirect
Killing a child
Theft
Torture
Lying
Betrayal
Vengeance
Recklessness
Substance abuse
Self-destructive behavior

Powers/Abilities: No supernatural abilities! She is, by this point, very good with a gun, bow and arrow, and close-up knifework. She also makes a mean beet-and-acorn cookie.

Items:

Bow and arrows
Survival knife
Swiss army knife
Engagement/wedding ring (she does not wear this)
Friendship bracelet (she does wear this)

Network: [ There's a moment where the camera doesn't show much of anything at all, as she gets herself situated. The view careens wildly for a moment, then there's a quiet "oh!" and it settles on Carol, beaming hopefully on the screen. ]

Hi there. My name's Carol. [ She gives a little wave. ] I just wanted to...introduce myself, I guess. Hope everyone's having a good day.

[ She pauses, and then laughs, as though embarrassed. ]

Well. As good as it really gets here, right?

Anyway! I'm new. You might've guessed. But I just wanted to say hi, and say...I'm here, if anyone needs anything. If anyone needs a friend. We all have to stick together, right?

Umm...about me. I like to bake. I make pretty good cookies, if I do say so myself. [ She winks. ] I'm good at...mending clothes? If that's something we have to worry about here. And I'm a very good listener.

And I would love to get to know all of you! So go ahead. Tell me something about yourself.

[ She smiles brightly again, and then her brow furrows, her gaze turning away from the camera as she seems to search for the 'off' button. ]

How do you - oh! There -

[ And the feed cuts out. ]
